About
Asha the red panda was born at Bristol Zoo Project as part of a vital European breeding programme for the species. After the sudden loss of her mother, Laya, Asha required intensive human care, with keepers stepping in to hand-rear her.
Since then, the team has supported her development through diet, habitat adjustments, and enrichment, helping her build strength, coordination, and confidence.
Join Qualified Animal Keeper Hollie Jakins as she shares Asha’s remarkable story, offering a behind-the-scenes insight into the challenges and rewards of hand-rearing a red panda cub. Discover the specialist care, round-the-clock dedication, and close monitoring needed to give Asha the very best start in life, while learning more about the conservation of this endangered species.
This talk will start at 2pm with plenty of time for questions at the end, with a finishing time of 3.30pm.Suitable for ages 8+
